It has already been 134 years since the birth of the outstanding aircraft designer, the pride of the nation – Ihor Sikorskyi. His activities during his life and achievements in science and technology demonstrate to the whole world who Ukrainians are.
In 1908-1912, while studying at the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, he designed and built 6 models of airplanes and a helicopter. He is the creator of the world’s first four-engine aircraft “Rusky Vityaz”, heavy four-engine bomber and passenger aircraft “Ilya Muromets”, transatlantic seaplane, serial single-propeller helicopter. Although in 1918 Sikorsky went to conquer the USA, where in 1923 he founded the Sikorsky Aircraft company, he will forever remain a Ukrainian who made an incredible contribution to the development of world science!
